My name is Brian Brown and my life began to change when I was hired by a Budget Blinds franchise in 2014 for a temporary position answering phones. I didn’t know how significant it was at the time because I was in the process of pursuing a different career path. However, life had different plans for me.
I ended up being hired full time with Budget Blinds and my role with the company grew more than I ever thought it would. I went from mainly answering phones and scheduling appointments, to managing the office and implementing workflow management systems to handle business growth. I was doing this while periodically helping with product installation and sales. Eventually, I spent most of my time in sales and I loved it. I got paid to meet interesting people everyday and help them solve problems in their home or business. Also, many conversations I had with my customers either taught me something or helped me view life from a different perspective. While everything was nearly perfect at Budget Blinds, all good things come to an end.
While I worked at Budget Blinds my personal life was also growing. My wife and I had welcomed two perfect (to us) children into our lives, we remodeled our homes to accommodate our growing family, and my wife’s career was also reaching new heights. After months of consideration, we decided to go on an adventure and move our family to Eastern Tennessee in the summer of 2022.
Initially when I moved to Tennessee, I planned on walking away from the Window Covering Industry but I thought it would be a shame to throw away all of my experience. So I started my first business called Brighten Up: Blinds, Shutters, and More! I focused on Window Coverings but I also performed light Handyman Jobs for my customers. It was a great experience as a whole but I think deep down I always knew we would move back to Northern California.
Fast forward to the beginning of 2025, we moved to Siskiyou County, California and I am trying to start my new business called Handy Blinds! I am excited for the opportunity to serve the Siskiyou County communities and I will do my best to be professional, honest, and upfront with all my customers. Please consider choosing me for your Window Covering and Handyman needs. Thank you for the opportunity!
